March 4, 2019 | Women's Ice Hockey
WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Redshirt junior Sammy Davis of the Boston University women's ice hockey team was named Hockey East Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday.
Davis was terrific in the Terriers' Hockey East quarterfinal sweep of New Hampshire. She began the playoffs with three assists in the Terriers' 5-1 victory on Friday. Davis then tallied two goals in a 3-1 triumph on Saturday. No other league skater had more goals (2) or points (5) than Davis this past weekend.
A native of Pembroke, Massachusetts, Davis notched her 100th career point on Saturday when she scored her league-leading 25th goal of the season. For her career, Davis has notched 49 goals and 52 assists for 101 career points. Over half of those points have come this season in what has been the best year of Davis' career. She enters the Hockey East semifinals with 25 goals and 27 assists for 52 points. Sophomore Jesse Compher is the only other player in the conference with at least 50 points.
This is the third time that Davis has been recognized as Hockey East Player of the Week. She was also selected as the league's Player of the Month for February.
BU will face second-seeded Boston College in the Hockey East semifinals in Providence on Saturday, March 9, at 4:30 p.m.
