WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Freshman
Mackenna Parker of the Boston University women's ice hockey team was selected to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team, the league announced on Wednesday.
Parker was terrific during the 34-game regular season, scoring 11 goals and adding six assists for 17 points. She continued her strong play in the playoffs, finishing the weekend as a plus-4 and matching her career high with two goals in game one of the Terriers' quarterfinal series against New Hampshire. Parker was an impressive plus-25 during the season, which ranked second among Hockey East rookies. She lit the lamp in 10 different games this season, which also ranked second among conference freshmen.
A native of Clavet, Saskatchewan, Parker's breakout weekend came in a two-game series with Vermont. Parker notched her first collegiate goal in a 3-0 shutout of the Catamounts on Nov. 16 and then followed that by scoring a shorthanded goal and assisting on another marker in a 3-3 tie the next day. Those two performances sparked a streak of four straight games with at least one goal. Parker also notched a career-high three points (2g, 1a) in a 6-3 home win over Merrimack on Jan. 25.
This is the 11th straight season that at least one Terrier has been named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team. In addition to the All-Rookie accolades, sophomore
Jesse Compher was recognized as Hockey East Scoring Champion. She led the conference with 43 points (14g, 29a) in 27 league games this season.Â
