Lightweights Look to Defend Eastern Sprints V8 Title on Sunday

BOSTON - The No. 3 Boston University women's lightweight rowing team will compete at the Women's Eastern Sprints Championship on Sunday in Worcester, Mass. The Terriers will send out six boats to the prestigious competition on Lake Quinsigamond and battle lightweight crews from Harvard, Wisconsin, Princeton and Georgetown.
The Terriers will look to defend their Eastern Sprints lightweight varsity eight title and will also try to improve on last year's second-place finish in the Ulbrich Trophy team points competition which they lost in 2018 to Wisconsin by a single point.
"Eastern Sprints has been circled on the calendar since last May, so we're eager to get back on the course at Lake Quinsigamond," said lightweight rowing head coach Malcolm Doldron. "It's championship season, so the stakes are high and the competition will be fierce for all six of our crews. We're looking forward to fast racing on Sunday.
The first lightweight race of the day will be the third varsity eight grand final at 12:00 p.m. while the final race will be the varsity eight grand final at 12:55 p.m. The Terriers' No. 2 seeded varsity eight boat will compete against No. 1 seed Princeton, No. 3 Harvard, No. 5 Wisconsin and No. 6 Georgetown.

12:00 pm - 3V8 grand final
12:10 pm - Varsity double (2x) "B" grand final
12:20 pm - Varsity double (2x) grand final
12:30 pm - Varsity four "B" grand final
12:40 pm- Varsity four grand final
12:55 pm - Varsity eight grand final
UP NEXT
After Sunday's competition, the Terriers will next compete at the Dad Vail Regatta in Philadelphia, Pa. on May 10-11, before heading to Sacramento, Calif. to compete in the IRA National Championship Regatta on June 1-2.
