Terriers Start Road Stretch with Visit to Dartmouth on Saturday

January 10, 2020

HANOVER, N.H. - The Boston University men's ice hockey team, owner of a three-game win streak, heads north on Saturday (Jan. 11) to make its first visit to Dartmouth in five seasons. The game at Thompson Arena starts at 8 p.m. and will be streamed on ESPN+.

Only one of BU's next seven contests will take place at Agganis Arena. This is the fourth Ivy League opponent in the past five games for the Terriers.

The Terriers (7-6-5) and Big Green (7-5-3) go into Saturday's contest having played 79 times since first meeting in the 1925-26 season, and the Terriers hold a 45-32-2 (.582) advantage. BU ended a three-game losing streak in the series last season with a 4-1 home win over the Big Green. BU has won eight of the 10 meetings that have taken place at Thompson Arena.

This is the 12th game between the two schools since the Terriers left the ECAC to join Hockey East following the 1983-84 season.

Dartmouth has a 4-1-2 home record and will be kicking off a three-game homestand after skating to a 2-2 draw at Vermont on Friday. The Big Green has five wins in ECAC play in addition and won its own tournament, the Ledyard Bank Classic, with non-conference victories against Colorado College and UConn.

Dartmouth has one of the nation's best power plays, operating at a 23.5-percent success rate, which is good for 11th.

Sophomore Drew O'Connor is the Big Green's top offensive threat with 17 points on eight goals and nine assists. Junior Quin Foreman has added 13 points (5g, 8a) while sophomore defenseman Tanner Palocsik has 11 points - all assists.

In goal, senior Adrian Clark has started all but one game this season and currently sports a 2.86 goals-against average and a .907 save percentage.

BU closed out the first half of its 2018-19 season with the home win over the Big Green. Patrick Harper scored the game-winning goal while classmate Jake Oettinger turned in a 33-save performance. Cam Crotty opened the scoring and Ty Amonte and Joel Farabee also added goals.

Playing in his NCAA debut, Wilmer Skoog scored in overtime to lift BU to a thrilling 3-2 victory over visiting Brown on Wednesday evening at Agganis Arena.

The Terriers found themselves in a 2-0 hole early but drew even with goals from Trevor Zegras and David Farrance. Sam Tucker stopped the last 25 shots he faced to help BU win its third straight game.

Brown recorded only three shots in the opening period but scored on two of them to take a 2-0 lead 14:32 into the contest. The Terriers quickly cut into the deficit, however, as Zegras took a pass from Harper and scored on a delayed penalty just 43 seconds after Brown's second tally. Harper's assist allowed him to become the 84th player in program history to record 100 career points.

Farrance provided the equalizer midway through the middle period, earning his team-leading 11th goal in the process. That total continues to lead all Division I defensemen.
