ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Featuring four Terriers in double figures and a stifling defensive effort, the Boston University men's basketball team cruised to a 77-54 win at Navy on Saturday evening.

BU (16-11, 10-4 PL) shot 56.4 percent from the field and held the Midshipmen (13-12, 7-7 PL) to just 37.7 FG% to increase its road win streak to four games. Sophomore Walter Whyte had 12 points and 10 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season, while senior Max Mahoney posted 17 points, nine boards and four assists. Juniors Javante McCoy (16 pts.) and Andrew Petcash (12 pts.) also reached double figures in points.

Navy's five starters combined for just 22 points, as Richard Njoku came off the bench to post a team-high 12 points. Posting a 38-24 advantage in rebounds, BU outscored Navy in second-chance opportunities, 20-5, to help hand the Midshipmen their most lopsided defeat of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Though BU never trailed, the Terriers were tied for approximately 30 seconds after John Carter Jr. hit a layup at 16:48 to put the score at 4-4.
On the next possession, Mahoney drew a foul and hit two free throws to grab the lead for good.
Petcash flushed his first trey at 11:19 to extend the lead to 15-8 and added a second at 9:14 (21-12).
After Cam Davis hit a jumper on the ensuing possession to cut Navy's deficit to 21-14, Mahoney grabbed an offensive rebound and scored on the putback with the bonus free throw to put the lead at double digits for the rest of the contest.
Whyte flushed a 3-pointer at 4:54 to extend the lead to 30-14.
McCoy ended the first half and started the second with short buckets to extend the lead to 40-19.
The Midshipmen never cut the lead below 17 points and eventually trailed by as many as 28 (66-38) with 5:21 remaining in regulation following Whyte's second trey of the game.

GAME NOTES

BU improved to 11-5 all-time against Navy and 7-0 at Alumni Hall while extending the streak of the road team winning in the series to 10 games.
Mahoney increased his career totals to 1,451 points and 635 rebounds, while McCoy moved within four points of 1,000.
Petcash reached double figures in points for the third time this season, a season-high 12 points, with the help of a career-tying three 3-pointers.
Whyte has earned a double-double in two of the last three games and four total in conference play.
The Terriers shot 7-of-17 (.412) from behind the arc and held Navy to 4-of-12 (.333).

NEXT UP: LAFAYETTE

The Terriers will next visit the Leopards on Wednesday (Feb. 19) with a 7 p.m. start time.
BU overcame a 14-point deficit to beat Lafayette, 73-72, back on Jan. 2 at home.
Sophomore Jonas Harper hit the go-ahead 3-pointer with 12.8 seconds in regulation after BU grabbed its first lead of the game with 46 seconds remaining.
