Bellows Makes NHL Debut with New York Islanders

Kieffer Bellows became the 86th Terrier to play in the National Hockey League when he made his debut for the New York Islanders in a 4-3 overtime home win on Tuesday evening in Brooklyn.
Bellows, who played at Boston University during the 2016-17 season, tallied 24 points on the strength of 16 goals through 45 games this year for the Bridgeport Sound Tigers of the American Hockey League.
In Tuesday's game against Dallas, Bellows wasted little time earning his first NHL point, assisting on Derick Brassard's goal that made it a 2-2 contest in the second period. He finished with a plus-1 rating in 9:10 of ice time and added a shot, a hit and a blocked shot.
Bellows, the son of 1,000-point NHL scorer Brian Bellows, tallied 14 points (7g, 7a) in his season at BU that included a World Junior gold medal midway through the year.
At the 2016 NHL Draft, Bellows was taken 19th overall by the Islanders. He is the 16th Terrier to play in the NHL this season.
