Seventeen Terriers Named to Hockey East All-Academic Team

WAKEFIELD, Mass. - The Boston University women's ice hockey team placed a program-record 17 student-athletes on the Hockey East All-Academic Team, the league announced on Tuesday.
All 17 Terriers achieved a grade-point average of 3.0 or better in each of the two semesters that they competed in during the 2019-20 season. This was the sixth straight year that at least 10 Terriers earned a spot on the Hockey East All-Academic Team. In each of the last five seasons, BU has earned at least 14 spots on the squad.
Three Terriers - Alexandra Calderone, Deziray De Sousa and Natasza Tarnowski - graduated having reached Distinguished Scholar status; all three skaters qualified for the All-Academic team in each of their four seasons at BU. Calderone earned a degree in business administration and management while De Sousa (psychology, behavior & health) and Tarnowski (psychology, health science) each completed a double major. Sammy Davis, who earned Distinguished Scholar status from the league in 2019, garnered recognition for a fifth time.
Two other 2020 graduates - Breanna Scarpaci and Abbey Stanley - secured a spot on the All-Academic Team for a third straight season. Scarpaci earned a degree in health studies while Stanley received a degree in chemistry. Rising seniors Rachel Allen and Corinne Schroeder also made the team for a third consecutive year.
Every member of the Class of 2020 were selected to the All-Academic Team, with the league recognizing Abby Cook and Katie Shannahan for a second straight year. Cook completed her health science degree and Shannahan secured her degree in mechanical engineering. Rising junior Kate Stuart also landed on the squad for a second straight season.
Three members of next year's leadership group - Jesse Compher, Kaleigh Donnelly and Nara Elia - were tabbed for the team. Three freshmen - Brooke Ersoy, Nadia Mattivi and Grace Parker - made the squad in their first year of eligibility.
