BOSTON - Senior Corinne Schroeder made 19 saves but the Boston University women's ice hockey was shut out by Maine, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon at Walter Brown Arena.

Schroeder turned in a second straight strong performance between the pipes, but Loryn Porter turned aside all 37 Terrier shots to help Maine (5-6-0, 5-6-0 HE) earn a weekend split against BU (2-3-0, 2-3-0 HE).

HOW IT HAPPENED

BU controlled much of the play during the opening 20 minutes, outshooting the Black Bears, 14-7.
The Terriers attempted 11 shots during a 3:34 stretch of power play time, but Porter and the Maine defense kept the contest scoreless.
Maine got on the board with 2:16 remaining in the second stanza when a Kennedy Little shot deflected off of Ida Kuoppala and found a way past Schroeder.
The Black Bears then added to their lead with less than a minute remaining in the frame.
BU pushed for a goal during the entire third period, eventually pulling Schroeder in favor of an extra attacker for the final five minutes of the tilt, but despite a power play during that span, the Terriers were unable to light the lamp.

GAME NOTES

Schroeder's shutout streak ended at 113:37.
Schroeder and junior Nicole McGuigan had combined for a shutout streak of 133:37 that dated back to Dec. 11.
This was the first time the Terriers were shut out at home since Dec. 31, 2018.
Freshman Tamara Giaquinto led the Terriers with six shots on goal.
BU finished the weekend 5-for-5 on the penalty kill and has allowed just one power-play goal in 14 opportunities.
