BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Boston University women's cross country team competed at the Paul Short Run on Friday at Lehigh.
In the gold 6K event, BU finished 12th in a 38-team field with a score of 420 points, just 10 behind 11th-place George Mason and 33 ahead of 13th-place Stony Brook.
"Our team had a tremendous day with strong performances from much of the squad," associate head cross country coach Jordan Carpenter said. "It was a huge improvement coming off the race at Franklin Park that left us a bit disappointed. We bounced back in a huge way and showed that we have some really strong runners. We are getting healthier and fitter as a group and we are excited to see where this team can go in the weeks ahead."
Graduate student Corinne Batsu led the Terriers in 50th out of 342 runners with a time of 21:03.9. Classmate Veronica Kriss was 78th with a time of 21:27.2, followed by seniors Meghan Convery (21:37.5) and Madeline Bachmann (21:40.9) in 91st and 97th, respectively.
Sophomore Addie Marple crossed the line in 22:00.9, followed by senior Angela Castronuovo (22:13.12), freshman Sarah Hanifin (22:14.0) and sophomore Daisy Liljegren (22:18.6).
In the open 6K, sophomore Janelle Williams led the Terriers in 16th with a time of 22:28.6, while junior Anna Kavanagh was 95th out of 291 harriers with a time of 24:16.8.
BU will return to competition on Saturday, Oct. 16, when the Terriers travel to New Jersey for the Princeton Invitational.
