October 18, 2021 | Women's Golf
MILFORD, Conn. - Thanks to four top-10 finishes, the Boston University golf team closed its fall schedule with a victory at the two-day SHU Fall Classic, which concluded Monday at Great River Golf Club.
BU led after both rounds, shooting a 307 on Sunday before closing with a 296 on Monday to finish nine shots clear of the second-place hosts. The Terriers were the only team to shoot a score lower than 300. This is the second straight week that BU has been in the top two at an event, as the Terriers were the runners-up at the Yale Invitational on Oct. 9-10. BU has also won at least one event in each of the last four years.
Sophomore Flair Kuan finished fourth with a score of 148 (73-75), just three shots back of the winner. Two of Kuan's teammates - senior Hanako Kawasaki (79-71) and freshman Christy Chen (75-75) were one shot back in fifth place with a sore of 150. Kawasaki was brilliant on Monday, carding a one-under 71 in the final round.
Freshman Victoria Takai moved up 10 spots on Monday thanks to a 75 to finish tied for eighth with a 36-hole total of 155 (80-75). Junior Kristen Min Ju Kim played as an individual and tied for 16th at 159 (77-82) while junior Alice Fan jumped up 14 spots to finish in a tie for 41st at 169 (90-79).
The Terriers will return to the course in the spring with a goal of winning a third Patriot League title.
