November 3, 2021 | Women's Ice Hockey
AMESBURY, Mass. - Senior Courtney Correia of the Boston University women's ice hockey team has been named Hockey East Player of the Month, the league announced on Wednesday.
Correia was excellent for the Terriers as she helped guide her team to a 5-1-3 October record, including a 4-0-3 league mark. She led BU with six goals and 11 points, marks that were second in the conference. No other skater had more points (9) against Hockey East competition than Correia. Five of her six goals came at even strength, with the other marker a shorthanded game-winner. She also scored the shootout winner against Vermont on Oct.29. Correia, who recorded three multi-point games, also blocked nine shots and finished the month as a plus-7.
A native of Whitby, Ontario, Correia has totaled 24 goals and 27 assists for 51 points in 94 career games. This is the first monthly award of Correia's career.
BU will return to the ice on Friday when the Terriers travel to Connecticut to begin a home-and-home series against UConn.
