Men's Tennis Tops Merrimack, 4-3

HAVERILL, Mass. – The Boston University men's tennis team completed a weekend sweep against Merrimack with a 4-3 victory on Sunday afternoon at Cedardale Health & Fitness.
The Terriers (2-0) won all three doubles matches for the first point and then captured three singles points, as the Warriors dropped to 0-2.

- Senior Owen Lu and freshman Jose Maria Robalino quickly posted a 6-1 win at line 2 in doubles to start off the day.
- Senior David Bogatin and freshman Johann Sajonz followed up with a 6-4 win at line 1 to clinch the point.
- Senior Pete Siozios and freshman Tanisq Mallpani completed the sweep in doubles by breaking late in a 7-5 victory in the No. 3 slot.
- Robalino claimed BU's first singles point in straight sets (6-2, 6-4) at line 3 before Mallpani won his first-set tie breaker en route to a 7-6(1), 6-4 win in the No. 5 match.
- The Warriors won in straight sets at lines 1 and 6 before holding off Sajonz's rally in the No. 4 match, 6-0, 2-6, 6-4, to put the team score at 3-3.
- Bogatin clinched the team victory by rallying from a set down to defeat Merrimack for the No. 2 point, 4-6, 6-4, 6-2.
- The Terriers will play two matches against Bryant on March 6 and 7 with both contests slated to begin at 1 p.m. at Fore Court in Cumberland, Rhode Island.
- The Bulldogs edged BU, 4-3, last season in the same location.
