Schroeder Named to National Goalie of the Year Watch List
February 5, 2021 | Women's Ice Hockey
BOSTON - Senior Corinne Schroeder of the Boston University women's ice hockey team has been named to the watch list for the inaugural Women's Hockey Goalie of the Year Award, as announced by the Women's Hockey Commissioners Association on Friday.
Schroeder is one of 21 goaltenders across the country to be selected for this watch list. A committee of voters — made up of a cross section of coaches, administrators, and media — will pare this list down within the next two weeks and then ultimately choose the winner who will be announced in March during the NCAA Frozen Four.
A native of Elm Creek, Manitoba, Schroeder was one of the top netminders in the nation last season. Named a New England Division I All-Star as well as a Hockey East Second Team All-Star, Schroeder turned in the finest statistical season by a Terrier goaltender in program history during the 2019-20 campaign. She set new single-season program records when she ranked fourth in the NCAA with a .943 save percentage and was fifth among all NCAA goaltenders with a 1.54 goals-against average. Schroeder notched four shutouts, including two against Boston College, and was one of only two goaltenders in the country to have three shutouts with 30 or more saves.
This season, Schroeder has already posted one shutout in four starts. She owns a .915 save percentage and a 1.96 goals-against average.
