March 8, 2021 | Women's Cross Country
BOSTON - Sophomore Andrea Claeson of the Boston University women's cross country team has qualified for the NCAA Women's Cross Country Championship, which will take place on Monday, March 15, in Stillwater, Oklahoma.
"This is a great accomplishment for Andrea and she has worked hard to get to this point," head coach Paul Spangler said. "Andrea came to BU with a very limited running background, and to qualify for the national championship in her just second year of running goes to the hard work and dedication she has put into the sport. I am very proud of her!"
Claeson is the first Terrier since Rosa Moriello in 2014 to qualify for the NCAA Cross Country Championship. She earned her spot into the field following a fantastic performance at the Patriot League Championship, when she finished runner-up to help BU claim its second straight conference trophy. Claeson finished the 3.7-mile race with a time of 19:41.4, over 10 seconds ahead of the third-place performer, en route to collecting First Team All-Patriot League honors.
Oklahoma State will host the championship at the OSU Cross Country Course located in Stillwater, Oklahoma. The women's race will begin at 12:50 p.m. ET and fans can watch the race live on ESPNU or the ESPN App.
