Claeson, Jacobs-Townsley Earn USTFCCCA All-Academic Honors
April 1, 2021 | Women's Cross Country, Student-Athlete Academic Support Service
NEW ORLEANS - Andrea Claeson and Sophia Jacobs-Townsley of the Boston University women's cross country team were selected as All-Academic Athletes on Thursday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).
This is yet another major academic honor for Claeson, the reigning Patriot League Women's Cross Country Scholar-Athlete of the Year, and Jacobs-Townsley, as they were both named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team in March.
In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and have either qualified for the national championship meet or finished top-five at their respective conference championship. Claeson accomplished all three of those achievements, as she finished runner-up at the Patriot League Championship and raced at the NCAA Championship. In the classroom, Claeson posted a 3.83 grade-point average as a public relations major. Jacobs-Townsley finished fourth at the conference meet en route to a First Team All-Patriot League nod and earned a 3.30 GPA as a business administration and management major.
Not only did Claeson and Jacobs-Townsley receive individual honors from the USTFCCCA, but the entire program was recognized as a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team after combining for a 3.44 GPA.
