
Terriers Tied for Lead after First Day of Patriot League Championship

BETHLEHEM, Pa. - The Boston University golf team is tied for the lead after the first day of the Patriot League Championship at Saucon Valley CC.
BU, the defending champion, led by three after round one with a score of 304 and finished the day with a 36-hole score of 616 (304-312). Navy recorded a 308 in both rounds to also post a score of 616. Richmond is five shots back in third place with a score of 621.
Three Terriers are tied for second heading into the final round, trailing the leader by just one shot. Sophomore Alice Fan was the 18-hole leader thanks to a one-under 71 and finished the day with a score of 153 (71-82). Fan was the only player to have a score under par on Saturday.
Junior Hanako Kawasaki had the round to beat during the second 18 of the day, as she fired a 74 to also finish with a 153 (79-74). Graduate student Zhangcheng Guo posted a 74 in the first round to join her two teammates with a 153 (74-79). Freshman Flair Kuan is tied for 10th with a 157 (80-77) while sophomores Monica Yu (84-84) and Kristen Min Ju Kim (85-84) are in 22nd and 23rd place, respectively.
BU led the field with 18 birdies, with Fan and Kawasaki recording five apiece and Guo sinking four. The Terriers also took advantage of the par-5s, as they led the field with a 5.21 average on those holes. Guo played the par-5s at even par while Kawasaki, Kim and Fan were all +1.
Sunday's final round will begin at 8:30 a.m.
