June 1, 2021 | Field Hockey
BROCKPORT, N.Y. - The Boston University field hockey team was well-represented on the National Field Hockey Coaches Association Division I All-Northeast Region teams as four Terriers received the honor, as announced by the NFHCA on Tuesday.
Seniors Alexis Pettisani and Kathryn Scheerer were named to the Northeast Region First Team while classmate Liz Ryan and junior Rebecca Janes earned second-team honors. BU was tied for second in the region with four honorees and all four were first-time recipients.
This quartet helped the Terriers earn a 5-1 record, including a perfect 4-0 regular season to earn hosting rights for the Patriot League tournament for the fifth time in six years.
Janes (4g, 3a) and Scheerer (5g, 1a) tied for the team lead in points with 11 apiece while Ryan (3g) and Pettisani (1g, 2a) added six and five, respectively. Pettisani and Scheerer were instrumental on both ends of the field as they helped anchor a BU defense that allowed just six goals in regulation.
Janes (2.20) and Scheerer (1.83) finished 1-2 in the Patriot League in points per game while Ryan (1.20) was tied for fifth. Scheerer's five goals led all PL players while Janes finished tied for second in the league in both goals and assists.
Pettisani and Scheerer were also named to the All-Patriot League First Team while Ryan was an all-league second-team selection.
