Women’s Rowing Finishes Saturday Events At The Head Of The Charles

BOSTON - The Boston University women's openweight rowing team launched its 2022-23 season with the first day at the Head of the Charles, as DeWolfe Boathouse once again served as the starting line for the 36 total events that took place on Saturday (Oct. 22).
The Club 4 boat, coxed by freshman Valeria Lizarraga Ramirez and stroked by sophomore Hannah Look, secured the bronze with a time of 18:23.364. The performance was the second-fastest among collegiate boats, and less than a second behind the Georgetown crew. The last time the BU Club 4 boat placed third was in 2013, where the time was 18:43.40.
The Club 8 boat, coxed by sophomore Kennedy Walker and stroked by classmate Sally Thoden, collected an 18th-place result out of 39 finished crews, clocking in at 17:16.977.
BU was represented in three other crews on the day, highlighted by the Senior Master Eights that featured graduates from the 1991 and 1992 national championship Varsity Eight crew. Among 29 crews, the Terrier contingent finished seventh in a time of 18:35.682.
Elsewhere, the Alumnae Eights captured 36th place out of 45 crews with a time of 19:45.075. The Alumnae Fours completed the course in 20:58.514 to finish eighth out of 15 crews.
The Terriers wrap up the Head of the Charles on Sunday (Oct. 23) with the Championship Four and Championship Eight crews hitting the water at 1:20 p.m. and 2:11 p.m., respectively.
