Women's Golf Sits in Sixth After Opening Day of Terrier Invitational

SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Boston University women's golf team competed with 16 other squads on Monday at The Carolina Country Club for the first two rounds of the Terrier Intercollegiate, hosted by Wofford. The Terriers sit in sixth place at plus-38 entering Tuesday's final round.
BU was tied for ninth after the opening round after posting a 315 and then shaved 16 strokes off that score in the second round, recording a 299. The Terriers sit 12 strokes behind the leader, South Dakota, and eight strokes behind second-place Samford.
Three Terriers are currently in the top 20 as sophomore Christy Chen (74-78), senior Alice Fan (77-75) and junior Flair Kuan (80-72) are all tied for 16th at plus-8 (152). Kuan had a team-high six birdies over the two rounds, including four in her even-par 72 in the latter 18.
Sophomore Victoria Takai (84-81) had her first-round score count while senior Monica Yu had an impressive improvement between rounds, following up an 88 with a 74, which was the team's second-best score in the second round. Competing as an individual, senior Kristen Min Ju Kim recorded back-to-back 79s.
Takai will be the first Terrier to tee off on Tuesday at 9 a.m. in what will be BU's final round of the fall season.
