Men's Tennis Opens Season at ITA Northeast Regionals
October 9, 2022 | Men's Tennis
WEST POINT, N.Y. - Featuring three Terriers, the Boston University men's tennis team opened the new season at the ITA Northeast Regionals over the weekend at Army West Point.
Junior Jonah Dickson, sophomore Adrian Pawlowski and freshman Corey Craig all collected a singles win at the tournament.
After Pete Siozios became the first Terrier in over a decade to reach the Round of 32 back in 2019, Dickson matched his efforts by earning an opening round bye and then rallying from a set down to defeat Bryant's 2022 All-NEC First Team honoree Diego Trejo, 2-6, 6-2, 6-4. Ranked as high as No. 24 by TennisRecruiting.net for incoming freshmen, Harvard's Melchior Delloye halted a deeper run with a 6-2, 6-1 decision.
Pawlowski opened his first round match in dominating fashion and then bounced back in the third set to eliminate Sacred Heart's Alberto Mello, 6-2, 2-6, 6-2. Trying to join Dickson in the Round of 32, Pawlowski fell to Army's Thomas Lake, 6-4, 6-2.
Craig battled Brown's Sam Feldman in two tough sets but was unable to get the needed breaks of serve in a 6-4, 6-3 loss. He came back in a consolation contest with a quality 6-2, 6-3 victory over Boston College's Jake Vassel, who was a five-star recruit (ranked as high as No. 47) one year ago for the Eagles.
In the doubles draw, Dickson and Pawlowski fell to Army's Samuel Eden and Vishnu Bodavula, 8-2.
The Terriers will next head to the Brown Invitational on Oct. 14-15.
