Men's Rowing Opens Spring Racing Against Navy and Brown

PRINCETON, N.J. – Highlighted by the varsity eight boat's win against Navy, the Boston University men's rowing team opened its 85th season Sunday morning racing on Lake Carnegie against both the Midshipmen and Brown.
The Terriers defeated Navy in three of the four races and included a victory in the fourth varsity eight competition against Brown to add to the win total.
Coxed by senior William Mulhall and stroked by freshman Friedrich Amelingmeyer, the varsity eight boat posted a time of 5:57.70 to defeat Navy's time of 5:59.60 with the Bears finishing first at 5:52.47. The second varsity eight boat coxed by sophomore Matt Murphy and stroked by freshman Bowen de Gouw started the morning by placing second overall at 6:03.68 to finish ahead of the Mids (6:05.44), as Brown won at 5:59.45.
The fourth varsity eight boat coxed by Catherine O'Neal and stroked by freshman Dylan Fagiani took first at 6:27.96 to beat both Brown (6:31.19) and Navy (6:41.01). The third varsity eight boat coxed by sophomore Peter Adams and stroked by freshman Ethan Feldman finished third at 6:18.86, approximately four seconds behind Navy and nine behind Brown.
BU will next host rival Northeastern on Saturday (April 2) with ESPN+ broadcasting the battle for the Arlett Cup.
