No. 4 Lightweights Win Pair of Finals at Knecht Cup

WEST WINDSOR, N.J. – Highlighted by wins in the women's double and varsity four grand finals, the No. 4 Boston University women's lightweight rowing team wrapped up its weekend at Knecht Cup Sunday afternoon.

The team started the day taking first, second and fourth place in the women's double final. Sophomore stroke seat Charlotte Duan and senior bow seat Kathryn Grabowski took first place (7:48.28) ahead of sophomore Kieran Purandare (stroke) and senior Lindsay Albert's (bow) 7:52.74. Freshman stroke seat Zoey Goodness and sophomore bow seat Maecy Rickman finished fourth with a time of 7:58.82.

The BU four coxed by junior Nicolle Alvarez and stroked by junior Delaney Bernier took first place in the varsity four grand final with a time of 7:45.82. Sophomore coxswain Mayela Gaol and sophomore stroke seat Natalie Erb led their boat to a third-place finish (7:57.41).

The lightweight four boat led by Erb and freshman coxswain Heather Shinn took third place in the lightweight four grand final (7:44.31).

Sophomore coxswain Rayna Kuthiala and freshman stroke seat Nina Palmer led their boat to a tightly contested third place finish in the women's lightweight eight event with a time of 6:45.49, less than four seconds behind first place Stanford and less than one second behind second place Harvard-Radcliffe.

In the final race of the weekend, Palmer and senior coxswain Nora Chan helped the Terriers to their fastest time of the day (6:45.11) in the women's varsity eight grand final and a sixth-place finish.

The team next races on Saturday (April 16) for the Lightweight Beanpot against Harvard-Ratcliffe and MIT on the Charles River.
