Terriers Top MIT in Season Opener

BOSTON – The Boston University women's rowing team swept Patriot League member MIT in its first race of the season on Saturday morning on the Charles River.
The Terriers won all three races, including a five-second win in the varsity 8 race.
Racing began at 8 a.m. with the varsity 8 coxed by senior Mia Ball and stroked by classmate Megan Mastrorilli, who finished the 2,000-meter course with a time of 7:35.1. MIT finished in 7:40.1
Freshman stroke seat Tiara Hicks and coxswain Audrey Lucerne led the Terriers to their second win of the day in the 2V8 with a time of 8:01.7 ahead of MIT's 8:16.6.
The Terriers finished first and second in the varsity four ahead of both MIT boats. The BU four stroked by Sally Thoden and coxed by Trisha Jaggi finished with a time of 9:15 followed by the Terriers' boat stroked by Sonya Carson and coxed by Heidi Cook, which recorded a time of 9:46.9. MIT's boats finished with times of 9:59.5 and 10:37.4.
BU will return to action next Saturday (April 9) when they face off against Boston College and Eastern Michigan.
