BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After leading the Boston University women's rowing team with a fourth-place finish at the Eastern Sprints, the second varsity eight has earned Patriot League Boat of the Week honors, the conference announced Wednesday afternoon.
Coxed by sophomore Trisha Jaggi and stroked by junior Tiare Hicks, the 2V8 defeated Harvard-Radcliffe, Temple, Colgate and Holy Cross in the Sunday morning heat race to grab one of the two available Grand Final berths. The Terriers then finished fourth overall out of 16 crews in the afternoon competition, missing out on the bronze by 1.083 seconds to Cornell with Dartmouth and Columbia finishing well behind. No. 5 Brown and No. 17 Rutgers took the top two spots.
Other rowers on the boat included freshman Paris Burbine, senior Josephine Olson, freshman Ellie Brindle, sophomore Charlotte Galusza, senior Kylie Graves, junior Lucy Stevens and junior Morgan Glynn.
The announcement marks the third overall Boat of the Week honor this season for BU after the varsity eight was recognized twice in the month of April.
The Terriers will next compete for the automatic NCAA berth at the Patriot League Championships on Friday, May 13, on the Cooper River in Cherry Hill, New Jersey.
