Women’s Rowing Primed to Open Spring Against Cornell, George Wasgington, Colgate on Saturday

BOSTON – The Boston University women's rowing program is prepped to start its spring season on Saturday against Cornell, George Washington and Cornell on Cayuga Lake. The first race is scheduled for 11:10 a.m.

Morning Session – vs. Cornell

BU VS. CORNELL
- The Terriers most recently faced Cornell in head-to-head competition in their 2025 season opener.
- BU finished ahead of Cornell in all four races, with the Varsity 4+ finishing with the largest win margin of 21 seconds.
- The last time BU saw Cornell on the water was at the 2025 Eastern Sprints in the petite finals for the Varsity 8+, Second Varsity 8+ and Third Varsity 8+ with BU finishing ahead of the Big Red in the 1V8 and 3V8.
BU VS. GEORGE WASHINGTON
- In the 2025 season opener, BU faced George Washington at Cornell.
- The Terriers placed ahead of all four boats with the largest cushion of victory coming in the 2V4 with a 48-second lead.
- The Terriers last raced against George Washington at the 2025 Eastern Sprints, finishing ahead of its 1V8, 2V8 and 2V4 boats.
BU VS. COLGATE
- BU last saw Colgate at the Patriot League Championship, in which the Terriers successfully defended their league title.
- BU only raced Colgate once in the championship in the Varsity 8+, in which BU placed first and finished 12 seconds ahead of the Raiders.
- The Terriers finished ahead of Colgate at the Eastern Sprints in heat two of the Varsity 8+.
THE ROSTER
- BU's roster of 48 athletes boats 11 freshmen, 15 sophomores, 15 juniors and seven seniors.
- Director of women's rowing Malcolm Doldron is in his third season at the helm, as are associate head coach Lizzie Mitchell and assistant coach Ciara O'Sullivan.
- BU won the Patriot League Championship in 2025, making it the back-to-back league champion.
THE SCHEDULE
- The Terriers have six race days on their schedule, featuring three days of head-to-head competition and two postseason regattas.
- BU will face Cornell, George Washington, Colgate, Northeastern, Columbia, Brown, Rhode Island and Delaware in head-to-head races.
- The Terriers will also compete in the Eastern Sprints and the Patriot League Championship at the end of the season.
- BU will look to three-peat in the Patriot League Championship on May 15 to try and qualify for the NCAA Championships.
LOOKING AHEAD
- Following this weekend, BU will race on the Charles River against Northeastern for its only home race of the season on Saturday, April 4.
