Women's Ice Hockey Set to Host Syracuse for Weekend Series

BOSTON - The Boston University women's ice hockey team returns to action after a two-week hiatus with a weekend home series against Syracuse on Friday (Oct. 20) and Saturday (Oct. 27).
Both games will be streamed on ESPN+.

TERRIER TIDBITS
- The Terriers were idle last weekend after suffering a weekend sweep to then-No. 5/7 Northeastern on Oct. 6 & 7.
- BU has welcomed back former captain Reagan Rust '19 as an assistant coach and Friday will mark her first game behind the bench.
- The team has also elevated Bret Gilmour to goaltending coach after serving as a volunteer assistant the past two seasons.
- Senior Catherine Foulem scored BU's lone goal in the opening weekend against the Huskies.
- Freshman goaltender Mari Pietersen (22 saves) and graduate transfer Alexa Matses (28 saves) each have made one start in goalt.
- Sophomores Sydney Healey and Clara Yuhn both recorded assists in the season-opening loss.
- BU and Syracuse have met just once before as they battled to a 3-3 tie in the opening round of the Battle of the Burgh on Jan. 1, 2022.
- The Terriers scored twice in the third period to rally from a two-goal deficit.
- After a scoreless overtime in which BU had several chances to win, Syracuse scored in the fourth round of the shootout to advance to the championship game.
SCOUTING THE ORANGE
- The Orange are coming off a 7-0 loss at No. 9 Cornell on Tuesday.
- Syracuse recorded a home-and-home split against Rensselaer last weekend and its other two wins came in a season-opening sweep of Post.
- Graduate student Kate Holmes leads the Orange with five points (1 g, 4 a).
- Graduate goaltender Allie Kelley has started all seven games for the Orange and possesses a 3.01 goals-against-average and a .907 save percentage.
UP NEXT
- The Terriers visit Maine next weekend for a two-game series on Friday (Oct. 27) and Saturday (Oct. 28).
- Game times are set for 6 p.m. and 4 p.m., respectively.
