BOSTON – The Boston University women's ice hockey team (0-2-0, 0-2-0 HE) fell 2-0 at No. 5/7 Northeastern (5-1-0, 2-0-0 HE) Saturday afternoon at Matthews Arena.

The game was scoreless until 4:59 into the third period when Northeastern found the back of the net with a speedy goal at the crease. Despite BU pulling its goalie late in the third, the Huskies scored an empty-netter with under 30 seconds to go in regulation.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The first period saw BU and Northeastern nearly even on both ends of the ice with neither team scoring despite promising chances.
- The second period featured five total penalties with three on BU and two on Northeastern.
- Both times the Huskies were in the box resulted in 4-on-4 situations, but each team's penalty kill kept the other from finding the back of the net.
- Despite multiple breakaway chances for both teams, the game remained scoreless after the second frame.
- Northeastern was quick to strike in the third as it found the back of the net at the 4:59 mark.
- BU pulled Matses with 1:49 to go, resulting in an empty-netter for the Huskies leading to a 2-0 final.

- At the end of the second, both BU and NU had 21 shots apiece with NU narrowly edging BU in faceoffs 14 to 13.
- BU outshot Northeastern overall, 31-30.
- The Terriers won 17 faceoffs compared to the Huskies' 28.
- BU was 0-for-3 on the power play while Northeastern went 0-for-4.
- Freshman Alex Law led BU in shots with six.
