BOULDER, Colo. – Having won five of its first six games to start the 2023-24 season, the Boston University women's basketball team concludes its time in the Centennial State with a matchup against No. 7 Colorado on Tuesday (Nov. 28). Opening tip is set for 8 p.m. ET/6 p.m. MT.
BU (5-1) seeks its third win over a ranked opponent in program history, and first since 2012. The Terriers last played a ranked opponent in 2022 at No. 17/21 Georgia Tech.
Colorado (6-1) returns home for the first time since Nov. 12 after playing at SMU as well as the Paradise Jam Classic in St. Thomas. Since the start of the 2021-22 season, the Buffaloes are 27-5 at the CU Events Center.
TERRIER TIDBITS
- The Terriers picked up their first road win on the year, and first ever in the state of Colorado, with a 63-52 triumph over Northern Colorado on Sunday (Nov. 26).
- BU rattled off an extended 13-3 run over the final 5:16 of the second quarter and never relinquished the lead from there.
- Senior Caitlin Weimar posted 14 points, seven rebounds, and three blocks.
- Sophomore Anete Adler set career-highs with 13 points on five field goals, adding seven boards.
- Junior Alex Giannaros collected seven points, a personal-best seven caroms, and three steals.
- Weimar vaulted into the top 10 in program history with her 100th block as a Terrier. She became the 10th Terrier to reach that feat.
- In their last three games, senior Kelsi Mingo (6-for-11) and freshman Audrey Ericksen (6-for-12) are each shooting 50 percent or better from beyond the arc.
- BU has yet to allow 60 points across six games this season. Its Patriot League-leading 53.5 points allowed per game is good for 32nd in the nation.
- The Terriers are 0-5 all-time against opponents in the Pac-12. The last time they faced a Pac-12 team was on Dec. 3, 2016 at No. 24 Arizona State.
- BU's two ranked wins were against No. 17/15 St. John's (66-49) on Dec. 1, 2012 and No. 24 Vermont (74-63) on Jan. 18, 2010.
- The Terriers are facing their fifth top-10 program since the start of the 2003-04 season. The last time BU squared off against a team ranked in the single digits was No. 1 UConn on Nov. 22, 2013.
SCOUTING COLORADO
- The Buffaloes are 6-1 on the season, most recently dropping a 78-60 contest to No. 10/16 NC State in the Paradise Jam Classic on Saturday (Nov. 25).
- Topping out at No. 3 in the Associated Press Top 25 poll last week, Colorado is seventh in this week's iteration.
- Colorado's headlining win this year came in its season opener, defeating top-ranked and defending national champion LSU, 92-78.
- Three Buffaloes average double figures in scoring, led by Aaronette Vonleh's 16.4 points per game.
- She is joined by Jaylyn Sherrod (14.3) and Frida Formann (13.0). As a team, Colorado has shot 50 percent from the field.
- In the Pac-12 preseason poll, the Buffs were selected to finish fourth. Four Buffs were named Preseason All-Conference: Vonleh, Sherrod, Formann, and Quay Miller.
- Last year, Colorado went 25-9 to reach the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament. There, the Buffaloes fell to national runner-up Iowa.
SERIES HISTORY
- Tuesday marks the second all-time meeting between BU and Colorado.
- It will be the first on a home court in the rivalry.
- The lone previous matchup took place on Dec. 1, 1990, a 94-56 Buffaloes victory in the Coca Cola Classic in Providence, R.I.
- Marion Dukeman was the Terriers' leading scorer in that game with 14 points.
