HOW IT HAPPENED
- Both teams generated some chances in close during the early minutes of the contest and the Terriers exhibited some quick and aggressive play throughout the opening period.
- BU held a 10-5 shot advantage in the second period and were rewarded for their play by cashing in on a rush at the 8:13 mark.
- Freshman Alex Law fed Lacey Martin at center ice and the senior went up the left side before finding Yuhn at the foot of the right circle for an impressive finish off the pass.
- After controlling the game at 5-on-5 for a long stretch while in search of multi-goal lead, the Terriers got the first and only power play of the evening with 8:48 left in regulation.
- BU was unable to record a shot attempt in the first half of the power play but then generated a handful of looks only to have them all either saved or blocked as the Huskies kept it a one-goal game.
- Ella Blackmore provided the game-tying goal for Northeastern when she cut through the left circle and faked to the near side before stretching the puck around BU netminder Alexa Matsis.
- Matses made three saves during the remainder of regulation and NU's Gwyneth Philips came up with a stop in the final minute to push the game to overtime.
- Matses came up big with two stops in the opening minute of overtime before the Terriers created a couple of looks that Philips was able to handle.
- Irving ended the game when she finished off a 2-on-1 rush with Peyton Anderson by converting a backhand from the bottom of the left slot.
GAME NOTES
- BU held a 27-23 shot advantage.
- This was only the second game in program history that the Terriers did not take a penalty with the other being an overtime loss to Merrimack in last year's Hockey East opening round.
- Northeastern held a 17-8 edge in blocked shots with Tory Mariano collecting eight for the Huskies.

- BU will return to action on Saturday (Dec. 2) when it visits Providence.
