HOW IT HAPPENED
- BU put together a strong first period and found itself up 2-0 entering the first intermission.
- On the first power play of the game, the Terriers generated a flurry of chances right as the Providence penalty was expiring.
- After a pair of saves by PC netminder Mireille Kingsley, Giaquinto collected the puck in the right circle and roofed a shot at the 10:27 mark of the first, just five seconds after the power play ended.
- The Terriers took a 2-0 lead exactly five minutes later as junior Ani FitzGerald prevented the puck from leaving the PC zone and a deflected pass by freshman Alex Law found its way to Mattivi, who buried a backhand shot at the top of the crease at 15:27.
- The Friars got on the board 1:00 into the second period when Audrey Knapp scored on assists from Mégane Quirion and Hannah Johnson.
- BU reestablished a two-goal cushion off a shorthanded goal just 16 seconds into a PC power play.
- Junior Christina Vote raced to a loose puck and passed off to Mattivi, who skated through the neutral zone and approached the right circle before finding an open Disher in the left slot for BU's third shorthanded goal of the year.
- Three of BU's six power-play chances for the game took place in the third period but the Terriers were unable to build on their 3-1 lead.
- The Friars got within one with exactly seven minutes left in regulation as a Maddy Coene redirect went off Matses and in.
- Just nine seconds after pulling Kingsley in favor of an extra attacker, PC drew even at 3-3 when Grace Shirley punched in a rebound at the crease at 17:50 of the third.
- BU got its sixth power-play chance of the contest midway through overtime but was unable to capitalize.
- After overtime expired without a goal, PC scored on its first two shootout attempts and BU converted on its final two to send it to extra rounds.
- Neither team converted for six straight rounds before PC's Kayla Kutes scored to kick off the 10th round.
- Needing to score to extend the shootout, BU's Liv Haag had her attempt hit the post.
