Women’s Basketball Welcomes Emmanuel On Tuesday

BOSTON – With fall semester finals quickly approaching, the Boston University women's basketball program hosts local foe Emmanuel on Tuesday (Dec. 12). Opening tip is set for 6 p.m.
BU (6-3) looks to improve to 6-1 at home to begin the campaign, which would be the first time that has occurred since the 2018-19 season. So far, the Terriers are 4-0 against New England-area teams.
Emmanuel (4-6), a Division III opponent, counts Tuesday as an exhibition. The Saints are 1-3 away from home court on the year. Emmanuel played Merrimack as the only other Division I program on its docket back on Oct. 28.

- The Terriers defeated Harvard for the first time since 2014, winning 80-77 on Saturday (Dec. 9) at home.
- Though the Crimson rallied from an 18-point, second-half deficit, freshman Audrey Ericksen scored the go-ahead basket with 31 seconds left, while the Terrier defense forced three Harvard turnovers in the final minute.
- Senior Caitlin Weimar scored her 1,000th collegiate point en route to a 29-point, 10-rebound double-double.
- Junior Alex Giannaros made four of five three-pointers for 20 points, setting career-highs with seven assists and four steals.
- Ericksen and sophomore Anastasiia Semenova also posted personal bests with 17 and 12 points, respectively.
- Giannaros and Weimar became the first two teammates to score 20 points in a game since Weimar paired with Sydney Johnson on Feb. 18 at Bucknell.
- Weimar's 1,028 career points are the most by an active Patriot League student-athlete.
- After starting out 2-for-12 from distance in her first three games, Ericksen has made 11 of her last 24 three-pointers (45.8 percent) in her previous six.
- BU has trotted out five different starting lineups this year, with four tallying wins.
- The Terriers are 6-0 when leading after three quarters.
- BU leads the Patriot League with a .351 three-point percentage, and is 49th in the nation with 4.4 blocks per game.
- The Saints are 4-6 on the season, most recently defeating GNAC rival Johnson & Wales 73-65 on Dec. 9.
- Three of Emmanuel's wins have come on home court.
- Following Tuesday's contest, the Saints play two games in the 2023 Puerto Rico Clasico in San Juan.
- Olivia Matela leads Emmanuel with 14.5 points per game, with Paris Atuahene not far behind with 11.3 points per contest.
- Andy Yosinoff is in his 47th season as head coach of the Saints, capturing over 900 wins and 18 GNAC championships.
