HOW IT HAPPENED
- Weimar found Semenova under the rim three times in the opening two minutes to help the sophomore score BU's first six points of the game.
- BU closed the first quarter on a 9-2 as Giannaros drilled a left-wing three, then Weimar scored three-straight baskets, including a layup from a stretch pass near halfcourt from freshman Aoibhe Gormley.
- Freshman Inés Monteagudo Pardo opened the second with a three-pointer as BU scored the first seven points in the stanza to go up 28-10.
- Emmanuel cut the gap to 13, but Weimar collected a pass on the right block from classmate Kelsi Mingo and banked a shot in while drawing a foul, completing the conventional three-point play halfway through the second to make it 33-17.
- Mingo forced a steal with one minute left to halftime, allowing Gormley to find junior Natalie Jasper ahead for the layup. The Terriers went into halftime on top, 42-25.
- BU ignited the third quarter with 16 unanswered points, including a pair of triples from Giannaros and two buckets from Semenova, to increase the advantage to 58-25.
- Semenova collected six-straight BU points, then freshman Aina Grane Torres made her first collegiate basket on the left block for a 66-34 lead with 1:03 left in the third.
- Giannaros opened the final period with a nostalgic three-point play 89 seconds into the fourth for the Terriers' largest lead of the night, 71-37.
- Freshman Emelia O'Gilvie collected her first collegiate points at the halfway mark on a layup, then an 18-foot jumper by the left elbow.
- Grane Torres canned a three from the left wing, and Monteagudo Pardo capped the scoring with 28 seconds left after getting open on a behind-the-back dribble to drive for a layup.
- The Terriers made 34 shots from the field, and were 7-for-18 for three-point range (38.9 percent).
- Emmanuel shot just over 35 percent in the matchup, but were 2-for-7 from deep.
- BU registered 22 assists, with Weimar and senior Sophie Beneventine leading the way.
- BU was advantageous in points off turnovers (23-10), points in the paint (42-26), and bench points (25-20).
- Weimar now has six double-doubles on the year, tied for first in the Patriot League.
- Giannaros has canned three or more triples in four of her last six contests.
- Semenova set career-bests on the night in points (16), field goals (eight), and rebounds (six). She has 28 points in her last two games, which is close to the 36 points she scored in all of last year.
- Beneventine has four games this year with four or more assists.
- Along with Grane Torres and O'Gilvie scoring their first collegiate points, Jasper's basket was her first from the field as a Terrier after hitting a free throw at No. 7 Colorado for her first points with BU.
- The Terriers improve to 3-0 all-time against Emmanuel, having played the Saints for the first time since 1977.
- Idle for 10 days, BU heads across town to face Northeastern on Friday (Dec. 22). Opening tip is slated for 12 p.m.
