Men's Tennis Posts 5-2 Win at Wagner

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. – Wrapping up a weekend trip to New York, the Boston University men's tennis team posted a 5-2 win at Wagner Sunday night.
The Terriers (5-4) won the first two doubles matches by a combined score of 12-6 for the first point and then captured the top four singles points, including three in straight sets, to defeat the Seahawks (0-6).
In doubles play, junior Johann Sajonz and sophomore Adrian Palowski set the tone with a 6-2 win at line 3. Junior Jonah Dickson and sophomore Cole Knutsen teamed for a 6-4 victory in the No. 2 slot to clinch the win. Sophomore Dion Loutas and freshman Alejandro Licea were ahead, 4-3, against Wagner when their match was halted.
In singles, junior Ben Letzer won all 12 games in the No. 4 singles to keep the momentum for BU, as Loutas (6-1, 6-2) and freshman Corey Craig (6-2, 6-2) coasted to singles victories in the top slot.
Dickson added the fifth point by rallying from a set at line 3 to defeat his opponent, 2-6, 6-1, 6-3. Both Knutsen (#5) and Pawlowski (#6) also rallied to win their respective second set but ultimately came up just short in the super tiebreaker, 12-10.
The Terriers will next visit Bryant on Friday (Feb. 24) with a 4 p.m. start.
