Women's Rowing Sweeps MIT To Open Spring Slate

BOSTON – The Boston University women's rowing team launched the spring portion of its 2022-23 campaign with a dual race against Patriot League foe MIT, sweeping all three events on Saturday (March 25) on the Charles River.
The Varsity 4 started the day, with all three Terrier crews in the event defeating MIT's lone boat. The "A" crew, coxed by Valeria Lizarraga Ramirez and stroked by Hannah Look, took first place in a time of 7:42.8. The "B" boat, coxed by Kennedy Walker and stroked by Brianna Swartz, captured silver at 7:49.6. The "C" crew, coxed by Alex Aravides and stroked by Ally Blank, clocked in at 8:13.3 for a third-place result.
In the 2V8 race, the Terriers, coxed by Trisha Jaggi and stroked by Tiare Hicks, bolted from the stake boat and held a full-length lead just a minute into the race. BU comfortably finished in first with a time of 6:46.4, nearly 30 seconds ahead of the Engineers.
The V8 crew, coxed by Audrey Lucerne and stroked by Susan Cook, opened just over a length-lead on MIT in the first 1,000 meters, and rounded out the piece with a strong finish for a first-place time of 7:22.1, over four seconds in front of its opponent.
BU is idle before hosting Dartmouth on the Charles River on Saturday (April 8), its second of three dual races at home.
