BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Grad student Aksel Laudon was tabbed as the indoor track & field Scholar-Athlete of the Year and was named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team alongside grad student Marcel Aubry, the conference announced Thursday.
To be named a Scholar-Athlete and to the Academic All-Patriot League Team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and be a starter or key player in their sport. Freshmen or students in their first academic year at their school are not eligible for the honor.
Laudon's Scholar-Athlete honor is the first of his career. At the Patriot League Championships, he was named to the Second Team All-Patriot League for his second place finishes in the 4x800m and distance medley relays. Additionally, he ran to third place in the 800m for an individual medal. The first-year medical student also made the 2022 cross country Academic All-Patriot League Team.
Aubry's Academic All-PL Team placement is the first of his career. The Toronto, Ont., native also earned Second Team All-Patriot League distinction for both the 4x800m and distance medley relays. As a part of the 4x800m relay, Aubry helped BU medal in the event at the conference championships for the first time in program history. He is currently pursuing a graduate degree in electrical/computer engineering.
The Terriers will begin the outdoor season on March 25 with the Raleigh Relays.
