Terriers In Ninth Place After Two Rounds At Lake Wheeler Invite

LAKE WHEELER, N.C. – The Boston University women's rowing program completed the first day of racing at the Lake Wheeler Invite on Friday (April 21) in the Tar Heel State.
Sporting three entries in the event, BU accrued 19 points after two rounds of races to sit in ninth place. Those 18 points slot the Terriers ahead of crews such as Clemson, Oklahoma, and Patriot League foe Navy.
BU's Varsity 4, coxed by Kennedy Walker and stroked by Luisa Reussner, began the day with a third-place finish in Heat 3, clocking in at 7:24.957 to beat crews from Georgetown, Oklahoma, and Louisville.
After posting the sixth-fastest V4 time among all 18 schools in Round 1, the Terriers once again finished third, this time in 7:55.011. BU outraced crews from Kansas, Washington State, and North Carolina in the second heat.
In the Second Varsity 8, coxed by Audrey Lucerne and stroked by Tiare Hicks, the Terriers also finished third in the third heat with a time of 6:36.265 to also cross the line ahead of the Cardinals, Sooners, and Hoyas.
The second round saw another third-place result for the 2V8, clocking in at 7:08.079. BU fended off fourth-place Iowa by four-tenths, and knocked off crews from the Jayhawks and Tar Heels as well.
The Terrier Varsity 8, coxed by Trisha Jaggi and stroked by Sofia Suhinin, was the runner-up in the final heat of Round 1, recording a time of 6:30.745. Only Syracuse posted a faster piece in the heat.
To round out BU's day, the Terriers completed the course in 6:57.633, finishing ahead of Kansas and UNC for a fourth-place effort.
Due to the potential for inclement weather on Saturday (April 22), race times have been moved up for the final round.
