
Sjöberg, Smith Collect PL Weekly Awards

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Freshmen Vera Sjöberg and Jada Smith of Boston University track & field were named the Track Athlete and Rookie of the Week, respectively, the league announced Tuesday.
Sjöberg competed in the 5,000m at the Wake Forest Invitational. She placed seventh with a time of 15:59.72, good for 60th in the NCAA. Sjöberg is one of six freshmen to run sub-16 this season and leads the Patriot League in the event. Her time ranks third in BU history and this is her second consecutive weekly honor.
Smith ran at the Michael Johnson Classic at Baylor in the 100m, 200m and 4x100m. Her 100m time of 11.74 is the second-fastest mark in BU history in the event. She also anchored the 4x100m relay to help the Terriers take 12th. The honor is Smith's first of the season.
The Terriers will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. for the Penn Relays on Thursday (April 27) through Saturday (April 29).
