TAMPA — The Boston University track & field program competed at the South Florida Invitational over the weekend (April 10-11).

Senior Ellie Roan broke the school record in the women's hammer throw on Saturday, throwing her implement a distance of 62.52 meters. The mark moved her ahead of Terrier alumna Natalie Grant, who notched a throw of 62.10m back in 2003.

The 4x100m relay squad of sophomore Kendall Barnhart, senior Jada Smith, freshman Nia McCurdy and senior Ijeoma Ezechukwu broke a 15-year-old school record, clocking a time of 45.49 seconds.

TOP 10 TERRIERS

Freshman Zachary Cox ran a time of 10.36 in the 100m dash, finishing first and moving into second all-time. He's now chasing the school record of 10.12, set by Toby Makoyawo in 2022.
Cox also moved into 10th all-time in the 200m dash with a 20.98 time, winning the event.
He joined up with sophomore Thomas Lamkin and freshmen Nicholas Cappucio and Andre Clark to clock a 40.49 time in the 4x100m relay, good for eighth all-time.
Cox, fellow freshmen Thaden Leomensah and Samuel Anderson and junior Micah Perry ran the 4x400m dash in 3:11.11, which is fifth all-time at BU.
In the women's hammer throw, senior Uchenna Uba improved her personal best with a 53.59m mark, solidifying her position as fourth all-time at BU. She also moved into ninth all-time in the discus with a 42.37m mark.
Ezechukwu improved upon her personal best in the 100m with an 11.58 time, solidifying her spot at second all-time.
In the 800m, sophomore Leonni Griffin posted a 2:07.99 time, moving into sixth all-time outdoors at BU. Freshman Samantha Lascelles ran a 2:08.51 mark, good for eighth all-time.
The 4x400m quartet of freshman Molly Bennett, Kendall Barnhart, McCurdy and Smith notched a 3:41.90, moving into fifth all-time at BU.

TOP PERFORMERS

Perry finished third in the 400m hurdles, posting a 53.69 time in the event.
Junior Karsen Vesty ran a season-best 1:48.58 in the 800m and finished third.
Sophomore Luke Riordan took second in the hammer throw (57.55m) and the discus (47.55m), and senior Gabe Hickman finished third in the shot put with a 17.31m mark, his best outdoor mark since 2024.
Junior Adrienne Buettner-Cable ran a 4:24.46 in the 1500m to win the race. The mark is 11th all-time at BU.
Smith notched a time of 11.57 (wind-aided) in the 100m to finish third.
Roan finished second in the shot put with a 14.64m mark.
Ezechukwu blazed to a 23.71 time in the 200m and Smith posted a 23.88, both of which would be top 10 marks if not for a wind rating of +2.8 m/s.
