May 30, 2026 | Women's Track & Field
LEXINGTON, Ky.—The Boston University women's track & field team wrapped up the NCAA East First Rounds after competing on Thursday (May 28) and Saturday (May 30).
Seniors Ellie Roan and Peace Omonzane both qualified for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Thursday, while junior Adrienne Buettner-Cable finished her junior season in the 10,000m on Thursday. Omonzane jumped again on Saturday in the triple jump, but finished 23rd in the event and did not move on.
Roan threw her hammer 64.22m on her second attempt and led the field after the third flight concluded. Only four throwers would surpass her in the final flight. Her other throws of 63.66m and 62.43m would have both qualified her as well. The 64.22m mark is a school record.
Roan is the first female Terrier field athlete to qualify for the NCAA Outdoor Championships since 2014 (Allison Barwise – high jump).
In the long jump, Omonzane used her first jump to launch 6.25 meters, finishing 11th in the region to earn a ticket to Eugene.
The last BU female horizontal jumper to make the event was BU Athletic Hall of Famer Tahari James in 2009, who competed in the triple jump.
In the triple jump, Omonzane reached 12.80m on her final attempt and finished 23rd. The Brampton, Ontario native won the triple jump at both the Patriot League Indoor Championships and at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships.
Buettner-Cable did not finish the 10,000m on Thursday. She ended her junior season after earning a Second Team All-Patriot League honor for her silver medal in the 10,000m at the Patriot League Outdoor Championships.
Roan will throw for a national title at Hayward Field on Thursday, June 11 at 5:30 p.m. ET and 2:30 p.m. PT, and Omonzane will jump at Hayward Field on the same day at 9:40 p.m. ET and 6:40 p.m. PT.
