BOSTON - Twenty-nine former Boston University men's ice hockey players are taking part in NHL training camps ahead of the 2023-24 season.
Sixteen of the league's 32 teams have at least one Terrier skating at their camp. The Boston Bruins fittingly lead the NHL by boasting six former BU standouts on their camp roster. Five members of last year's Hockey East championship squad -
Matt Brown (Philadelphia),
Drew Commesso (Chicago),
Domenick Fensore (Carolina),
Jay O'Brien (Toronto) and
Wilmer Skoog (Florida) - are at their first NHL training camp. Brown, Commesso, Fensore and Skoog all skated for their respective squads at various rookie showcases across the league, with Brown, Fensore and Skoog all lighting the lamp while Commesso posted a shutout.
