HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Terriers had a significant edge in possession in the early stages but the Huskies were able to get on the board on their first strong scoring chance.
- Kyla Josifovic found Brooke Campbell with a pass that split the left circle and Campbell one-timed a shot to the back of the net at the 8:22 mark of the first.
- UConn upped its lead to 2-0 when Coryn Tormala received a pass at the BU blue line and skated in through the left side before scoring at 11:43 of the opening stanza.
- BU had only one power-play chance all game but it used it to get on the board to quickly make it a one-goal game again.
- Welcke set up Giaquinto for a one-timer from just above the left circle that was saved by UConn netminder Megan Warrener but the puck bounced right to Healey near the left post and the sophomore sent it home with 6:49 left in the first.
- The Terriers drew even by scoring the only goal in the second period.
- BU moved the puck effectively all around the UConn zone before Giaquinto set up a look for Welcke in the right circle that she put past Warrener at 7:58 of the middle frame.
- The third period belonged to the Huskies as Jada Habisch gave the home team the lead for good when she skated behind the BU net and sent in a tough-angle backhand 3:51 into the third.
- Claire Peterson made it a two-goal cushion once again when Ashley Allard found her at the right post with 8:16 to play.
- Josifovic capped the scoring with an empty-netter that came with 17.4 seconds to play.
