Sophomore Clara Yuhn and freshman Alex Law scored for the Terriers, who move to 11-13-3 overall and 9-10-1 in Hockey East play. Junior Callie Shanahan made 29 saves in goal for BU.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Holy Cross never trailed in the game, opening the scoring in the final seconds of the first before breaking ties of 1-1 and 2-2.
- Millie Sirum scored near the right post with 7.6 seconds left in the opening period on play that developed from behind the BU net.
- The Terriers got an equalizer 5:51 into the second period when a right-point shot by Yuhn caught a Holy Cross defender along the way before finding the back of the net.
- The Crusaders regained the lead off a breakout as Bryn Saarela elevated the puck into the neutral zone ahead of Reghan Chadwick, whose wraparound attempt created a rebound that Emily Crovo sent in at 14:26 of the second.
- It took just 26 seconds for BU to draw even once again as Law took a pass from sophomore Maeve Kelly and got into Holy Cross territory before leaving a drop pass for senior Lacey Martin. Martin's shot was saved by Holy Cross netminder Brooke Loranger but Law crashed the net to punch in the rebound, making it 2-2.
- The game-winner came off a broken play off a rush as a pass tip by the Terriers resulted in a fortunate bounce for the Crusaders, allowing Lulu Rourke to find Crovo at the crease with 11:25 to play.
- The Terriers pulled Shanahan for an extra skater with 2:53 to play but Loranger stopped all three shots on goal the rest of the way.
GAME NOTES
- BU held a 39-32 advantage in shots for the contest.
- Loranger made 37 saves to earn the win.
- Each team went 0-for-2 on the power play and the Terriers did not take a penalty until 6:06 of the third.
