
Women’s Championship Doubles Highlights Lightweight Rowing Performance at Head of the Charles

BOSTON – With multiple medal performances in the books, the Boston University women's lightweight rowing program wrapped up the 59th Head of the Charles Regatta on Sunday (Oct. 20), with the DeWolfe Boathouse serving as the starting line for the course.
BU operated eight total crews, five of which had current student-athletes. Graduates joined together in the Women's Alumnae Eights on Saturday (Oct. 19) with the "A" boat completing the course in 18:04.234 (28th out of 52 crews) and the "B" boat finishing in 19:05.292 (38th out of 52 crews). In the women's championship doubles, BU alumnae came in 18th with a time of 20:38.232.
BU had two boats in the Women's Championship Doubles. Kylie Lough and Caroline Burchette came in first in the college championship category and 12th overall with a time of 19:13.923. Chloe Capizzi and Emilia Vukasinovic paired for the other doubles boat, finishing in 20:16.405 as the second to finish in the college championship category and 14th overall.
On Sunday (Oct. 20), two Terrier boats competed in the Lightweight 4+. The "A" boat, coxed by Mayberry Mark and stroked by Cece Mason, was fourth in a time of 18:51.765. The "B" boat, coxed by Lylah Nag and stroked by Sam Angel, finished just behind in fifth in 19:19.513.
In the Lightweight 8+, BU, coxed by Heather Shinn and stroked by Nora Hemsley placed second after finishing in 16:29.965. BU was only 0.689 behind the Australian boat that took first. It marks the second consecutive year that the Terriers earned silver in the event, and fourth overall.
BU concludes the fall portion of its schedule with the Foot of the Charles on Nov. 9.
