BOSTON – The Boston University men's basketball team will open its 116th season by hosting crosstown rival Northeastern in a doubleheader at Case Gym Monday night. The Terrier women will first face the Huskies at 4:30 p.m., and the men will follow at 7:30 p.m.

TERRIER TIDBITS
- Entering his 14th season with 218 wins, the second most ever at BU, head coach Joe Jones recently signed a multi-year contract extension.
- Selected third in the Patriot League preseason poll while collecting two first-place votes, BU returns all five starters from last year's squad that finished second in the PL standings for the first time since 2017 and came up just short in the semifinals in OT.
- Graduate student Miles Brewster collected Preseason All-PL recognition after ranking in the top 15 in the PL in seven categories, including 1.5 spg (#3), 40.7 3FG% (#5), 3.3 apg (#6) and 10.8 ppg (#15) while also ranking third (75th nationally) with a 2.3 assist-to-turnover ratio.
- Sophomore Kyrone Alexander earned BU's first All-PL Rookie Team award in four years by averaging 9.3 ppg and 4.2 rpg.
- Junior Otto Landrum (8.5 ppg, 5.3 rpg), senior Ethan Okwuosa (7.5 ppg, 4.2 rpg) and junior Nico Nobili (7.1 ppg, 4.4 rpg) are the other three returning starters.
- BU welcomes three newcomers in freshman guard Azmar Abdullah, freshman forward Ben Defty and sophomore forward transfer Quinn Nielsen from The Citadel.
- The Terriers went 3-2 in home non-conference games and 9-7 overall at Case Gym last year with notable wins over Bryant (95-79) and Merrimack (74-63).
- The Huskies were picked sixth in the 14-team CAA preseason poll after posting a 12-20 mark last year with a 7-11 conference mark.
- Northeastern went 2-6 in road non-conference games last year with wins at East Carolina and Central Connecticut State.
- Recipient of Preseason All-CAA Second Team honors, guard Masai Troutman averaged 10.0 ppg and 3.8 rpg last year, while guard Harold Woods averaged 10.1 ppg and 4.7 rpg.
- Northeastern has three transfers, including guard LA Pratt (6.9 ppg, 2.9 rpg) from Elon and forward Youri Fritz (5.3 ppg, 4.0 rpg) from Canisius.
- Bill Coen enters his 19th season as head coach with the Huskies.
- Northeastern owns a 76-75 edge in the all-time series that dates back to 1920-21.
- Sixteen of the last 17 meetings have been decided by single digits with nine contests decided by five points or less.
- Last season in a matchup at Matthews Arena featuring seven ties and 13 lead changes, the Huskies owned a 57-53 lead with 2:36 left and went on a 10-3 spurt over the next two minutes to pull away.
- BU won the last meeting at home, 72-63, in the 2022 season opener.
- The Terriers will hit the road for a two-game West Coast trip, starting with a visit to the University of San Diego on Friday (Nov. 8). Tip-off is slated for 10 p.m. ET.
- BU and USD, a member of the West Coast Conference, will meet for the first time in program history.
- The Terriers will be making their first visit to California since participating in three games at the 2013 2K Sports Classic sub-regional hosted by UC Irvine.
