Caitlin Weimar stuffed the stat sheet with 22 points, six assists, and seven blocks to lead three Terriers in double figures as the Boston University women's basketball program defeated Army West Point 72-64 on Wednesday evening at Case Gym.
BU (14-9, 6-6 PL) shot 54 percent from the field, and utilized a season-best 29 bench points to withstand 68 shots from the Black Knights (10-12, 7-5 PL). The Terriers snapped a three-game winning streak with the result.
In addition, Weimar collected six rebounds and four steals, falling just shy of a 5-by-5 statline. Senior

Inés Monteagudo Pardo each made a trio of three-pointers for 11 points.
Fiona Hastick tallied a team-high 16 points to pace Army, while Reese Ericson added 13 points.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Each made scored three baskets within the first 1:46 of the game, with BU getting three layups courtesy of Weimar, senior Sophie Beneventine, and sophomore Anastasiia Semenova.
- Ericson capped a 10-2 Black Knights run through the midpoint of the first with a triple to hand the visitors an 18-10 lead.
- Weimar's second-chance layup and Mingo's three closed the first quarter, pulling the Terriers within 21-16.
- Trailing 31-24 halfway through the second, Monteagudo canned a right-wing three. After Kya Smith made one foul shot, Weimar fed Semenova on the opposite block to make it a one-possession ballgame.
- BU closed the stanza on a 7-0 run to take a 36-34 edge into the half. Junior Alex Giannaros delivered a three, then Monteagudo stole the ball from Ericson and sank a layup.
- After Army briefly went up 38-36, a 6-0 BU spurt returned the lead to the home side. Gormley's coast-to-coast layup with 5:57 on the clock in the third put the Terriers on top, 42-38.
- Trinity Hardy's and-one plus Lauren Lithgow's three-pointer gave the Black Knights a two-point advantage halfway through the stanza before Weimar secured consecutive layups, making it 46-44 Terriers.
- BU's largest lead in the period was five after Weimar shook off two defenders on the left block with a spin move for a 53-48 lead with 25 seconds on the clock.
- Sam McNaughton knotted the game at 54-54 just 1:30 into the fourth on a floater, but Giannaros stuck a foul line-extended jumper from Weimar's pass on the next Terrier possession.
- Mingo stuck another three, and after a 2:05 scoring lull from both teams, Gormley nailed an uncontested triple from the left wing to give BU a 62-54 lead with 5:23 to play.
- Hastick's three trimmed the lead to five, but Monteagudo drained an open three from the left corner when Giannaros' drive drew multiple Black Knights, staking BU to a 67-59 advantage at the 4:01 mark in the fourth.
- The Terriers iced the game with free throws from there, with Mingo and freshman Audrey Ericksen each hitting a pair in the final minute.
STATS
- BU shot 27-for-50 in the contest, good for 54 percent. The Terriers also hit 8-of-18 from deep at a 44.4 percent clip.
- Army West Point made just over 38 percent of their shots. After going 50 percent from three in the first half, the Black Knights were 3-for-15 from beyond the arc in the final 20 minutes.
- The Terriers collected 17 assists on 27 made baskets. Weimar's six led the way, while Beneventine and Gormley earned four and three, respectively. Gormley did not surrender any turnovers.
- The Black Knights won the rebounding battle, 33-27, with 11 offensive rebounds turning into 10 second-chance points.
- BU sported the edge in bench points (29-11), points off turnovers (13-8), and points in the paint (36-28).
- The Terriers rejected 10 shots, the first time that occurred since Jan. 5, 2018 against Loyola Maryland.
NOTES
- Weimar registered 20-plus points for the ninth time this year. She matched her career-highs with her four steals, six assists, and seven blocks.
- She now moves into a tie for fourth place in program history with 147 blocks as a Terriers, matching Rashidat Agboola '14.
- Mingo has drilled three or more three-pointers in five of her last six games. In her last four contests, she has made 13 of her 21 shots from behind the three-point line, good for early 62 percent.
- Monteagudo recorded her second-career game in double figures, and first since a 15-point effort at Northeastern on Dec. 22, 2023. Her three triples also tied her personal-best.
- Gormley is shooting 8-for-15 in her last three contests. Since Jan. 17, she sports a 21:6 (3.50) turnover/assist ratio.
- BU has racked up 20 or more bench points in three of its last four matchups, and now seven times this year.
- The Terriers scored 70 points in a game for the first time since Jan. 20, improving to 5-1 in 2023-24 when reaching that plateau.
- BU improves to 19-11 all-time against Army West Point.
