Falkstrom Finishes Runner-up in 100 Breaststroke, Breaks Own School Record

ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Graduate student Kyle Falkstrom broke his own school record twice on Friday en route to a second-place finish in the 100-yard breaststroke on day three of the Patriot League Championships on Friday at Navy's Lejeune Hall.
Falkstrom shaved over a half-second off his record time in Friday's prelims with a 52.98 before securing his best-ever individual PL finish with a 52.82 in the finals.
Freshman Evan Liu qualified for the B final in the 400-yard individual medley and ended up posting a time of 3:57.42 to take 11th place.
Freshman Jonny Farber (49.32) and sophomore Tony Ponomarev (49.74) placed 13th and 14th, respectively, in the 100-yard backstroke while junior Andy Carlson tied for 15th in the 100 breast.
In the 200-yard freestyle, junior Pier Bressan made the C final and swam a 1:39.99 to place 20th overall. Senior Justin Lee was BU's top finisher in the 100-yard butterfly, placing 22nd in a time of 49.47.
Lee, senior Adrien Pierce, junior Keegan Duffy and Farber placed seventh in the 200-yard freestyle relay in a time of 1:21.88.
The Terriers finished Friday with 378 points for the meet, good for fifth place. BU is 49 points ahead of fifth-place Lehigh.
The final day of the PL Championships will take place on Saturday (Feb. 24) starting with prelims at 10 a.m.
