Sjöberg Named PL Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Joins Edenson on Academic All-PL Team

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Sophomore Vera Sjöberg of the Boston University track & field team was selected as the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year, the league announced Friday. In addition, sophomore Kate Edenson was named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team.
Sjöberg earns the scholar-athlete distinction for the second time in 2023-24 as she was also named the scholar-athlete for cross country. She ran to a gold medal finish in the mile, 3,000m and 5,000m races at the Patriot League Championships to become the first Terrier to take the title in three separate events at the indoor championship meet. Sjöberg is perusing a major in English and boasts a 3.96 GPA.
Edenson picked up two silver medals in the 800m and distance medley relay and earned bronze in the 4x800m relay at the indoor championships. The medals were the first on the league level of her career. Majoring in health science, Edenson has a 3.93 GPA.
For the first time since joining the Patriot League, BU completed a sweep of the Patriot League Scholar-Athlete of the Year. In addition to Sjöberg, sophomore Freddy Collins was named the men's indoor track & field Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
The Terriers will compete again in the outdoor season, beginning with the Miami Hurricane Invitational on March 15.
