Craig Earns Fifth Patriot League Player of the Week Award
March 19, 2024 | Men's Tennis
BETHLEHEM, Pa. – After posting a perfect 4-0 record in the top singles slot, Boston University men's tennis sophomore Corey Craig has earned Patriot League Player of the Week honors, the conference office announced Tuesday afternoon.
With his fifth overall honor this year, Craig has set a PL record for most awards earned in a single season since the conference switched from a monthly model to weekly in the summer of 2014.
A native of Coconut Creek, Florida, he started off with a 6-2, 6-0 win at No. 1 against UC Riverside's Joshua Roth and followed later last Tuesday with a dominating 6-0, 6-1 victory over Redlands' Nico Calixto. His efforts helped the Terriers rally to edge both opponents, 4-3, in the final results.
On Friday, Craig went 2-0 again in the doubleheader at UC San Diego after the Tritons upset then-No. 51 Indiana a day prior. He first held off Carson Lee in a second set tiebreaker for the 6-3, 7-6 victory and then won a super tiebreaker against Phillip Lan in a 6-1, 3-6, 1-0 (10-3) decision.
The Terriers will next head down to Virginia to face George Mason on Saturday (March 23) at 11 a.m. and then the next day open Patriot League play at Navy with a 10 a.m. start.
