Women’s Rowing Launches Spring Campaign Against Cornell
March 29, 2024 | Women's Rowing
BOSTON – A new era for the Boston University women's rowing program begins on Saturday (Mar. 30), as the Terriers open the spring portion of their 2023-24 season in a dual race against Cornell on the Charles River.
Director of Women's Rowing Malcolm Doldron is set for his first spring season at the helm after leading the lightweight rowing program. Associate Head Coach Lizzie Mitchell and Assistant Coach Ciara O'Sullivan also prepare for their first seasons in Terrier Town.
Saturday's races will air on ESPN+ as well as NESN, as part of BU Athletics' Fifty Forward series. For more on Fifty Forward, please click here. The broadcast will air the Terrier races in the Varsity 8, Second Varsity 8, and Varsity 4.
Overall, 29 letterwinners return from last year's program, with 21 newcomers. BU features two redshirt seniors, eight traditional seniors, 13 juniors, 12 sophomores, and 15 freshmen. Four of the Terriers' five All-Patriot League honorees are back in 2024: Susan Cook (First Team), Kat Robbins (Second Team), Trisha Jaggi (Second Team coxswain), and Anna Dechantsreiter (Academic All-Patriot League).
BU looks to return atop the Patriot League after tying for first in points in the 2023 conference championship. The Terriers took gold in the Second Varsity 8 for the second-straight year and its first-ever gold in the Varsity 4, and was second in the Varsity 8. By virtue of its first-place finish in the V8, Navy was named Patriot League champion.
Back in the fall, the Terriers competed in the Head of the Charles, with the Championship 4+ and 8+ taking 11th and 23rd place, respectively. The Club 4+ was seventh out of 52 entries, while the Club 8+ earned 15th.
In 2023, Cornell was eighth at the Ivy League Championships, garnering two All-Ivy honorees in Catherine Dyevich and Ellie Bijeau.
