Women's Tennis Defeats Holy Cross on Senior Day, 4-0

BOSTON - The Boston University women's tennis team opened Patriot League play with a decisive 4-0 win over Holy Cross on Saturday afternoon. BU earned the doubles point and clinched the victory with three singles wins to improve to 10-7 overall and 1-0 in league play on senior day.

Freshmen Uma Bakaityte and Blanka DeMicheli teamed at line one in doubles and quickly built to a 6-0 win. Seniors Kaitlin Tan and Uma Bakaityte clinched the doubles point with a 6-1 victory at line two to give BU the advantage headed into singles.

Tan played at line two in singles and won her match 6-1, 6-1. Bakaityte played at the top of the lineup and defeated her opponent 6-2, 6-2 to give BU a 3-0 lead. Sophomore Emily Zhao clinched the win for the Terriers with a 6-2, 6-2 win at the No. 3 spot to close out the match 4-0 for BU.

The Terriers will be back in action on April 6 when they face Navy at 5 p.m. at the Winchester Tennis Club.
